More About PK4A

The Paradise Kids 4 Africa Idea

PK4A is a subsidiary of Paradise Kids, a Gold Coast children's charity which began in 1996 as a division of Hopewell Hospices Services Inc.

Paradise Kids provides cost-effective support services and programs for children and their families who are suffering from grief, loss, bereavement and life-limiting illness.

Headed by professional co-ordinators and qualified counselors, and assisted by a team of dedicated volunteers, Paradise Kids helps to ease and heal the heartache of children grieving the death of a family member, an illness (either their own or someone else in the family), or a separation or divorce within the family.

Paradise Kids helps children, youth and their families by providing separate grief and loss support groups for children and adults, individual counseling for children and adults, family counseling, programs for specific losses and special events.

The support programs are tailored for specific age groups 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 11 year olds, and teenagers from 12 to 18 years. PK4A (Paradise Kids 4 Africa)

As a Non-Denominational charity, not aligned to any particular church, our sole aim, desire and purpose is the helping of God's children no matter what faith, color or creed.

A chance meeting with Rev Dr Themi Adamopoulo, led Paradise Kids to get involved with children of Africa. Born in Melbourne and now living in Africa, Rev Themi is a dedicated man of God who has given his life to the fight against poverty through Education.

Inspired by the works of Mother Theresa, Rev Themi, for over 10 years lives and works in Africa helping the Poor and Homeless.

And finally all donations go to charities and community organizations, both Christian and non-Christian alike to help people who are in need, by following Matthew 25 in:

  • providing food to the hungry
  • providing clean water to the thirsty
  • providing clothing to the needy
  • providing shelter to the homeless
  • providing medical care to the ill
  • providing care for the imprisoned
  • and most of all to provide a good education to all

Help us help people in need.

WHAT PK4A BELIEVES

The broad mission of PK4A is to fulfill Gods commandment of Love, by:

  • providing food to the hungry
  • providing clean water to the thirsty
  • providing clothing to the needy
  • providing shelter to the homeless
  • providing medical care to the ill
  • providing care for the imprisoned
  • and most of all to provide a good education to all

The people we help are not receiving a handout, but a helping hand. It is only when a person's most basic needs are met, that one can become self reliant. Because of this belief, PK4A will always placed a great emphasis on and achieve our goals through:

  • education
  • job creation and
  • providing aid to the children who are the hope and future

FAQ’S

How much actually gets to the needy? 80c of every dollar goes directly to the Children in Africa. 20c of every dollar goes to Children in Australia through Paradise Kids. All staff who work for and on Paradise Kids 4 Africa in Australia and Africa are volunteers and do not receive any payment.

As an expression of the partnership between Paradise Kids and Paradise Kids 4 Africa, we will continue the support in working with Australian children dealing with grief, loss and illness. How is the 80c distributed in Africa? Our representative Rev Dr Themi Adamopoulo distributes the money personally and directly to as many charities possible.

PK4A PROJECTS

Besides sponsoring orphans and orphanages, PK4A create work for locals by entering into joint projects with locals. A wise person has said, "Give a person a fish and they eat for a day. Teach them to fish and they eat for a lifetime." PK4A helps people to help themselves. If we can become committed to this one goal, freedom and prosperity will surely be strengthened in these communities.

TOKYO Nobel peace laureate Muhammad Yunus said in 2006 that business does not have to be limited to making money, and invited companies to use their efficiency and profitability to work for social causes.

"Poverty is not created by the poor people. Poverty is created by the institutions, "Yunus said, adding that the poor are only seeking the same opportunities as anybody else, not charity."

In 2005, PK4A, purchased a "second hand" bus in Nairobi, Kenya and began a public bus run between two provinces.

In 2006, PK4A, sponsors more schools for Congolese refugees and contributes to the completion of Libraries and Food Kitchens.

In 2007, Pk4A will endeavor to purchase another two new buses and create more small business ventures for the locals.

Trading as "Ozy Express" and employing 4 full time staff, this one bus, generates enough income to lift these families into middle class citizens and with the remaining profits, PK4A is able to sponsor more children into schools.

In 2008, PK4A, expanded it's helping hand to Sierra Leone. Sponsoring over 3000 children in Education, Clothing and Food.

A new income generating Bus will be purchased to help with the costs and employ more locals.
